Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Description:
Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?
Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.
Ismae's most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

Why?
- I love historical paranormal fiction. I mean who wouldn't? It has the magic, the old fashion manners, the beauty of a time long forgotten by anything other than the history books.
- This play on the Greek role of Nemesis in Brittany sounds amazing.
- A powerful female character, living in a time where women were second class. To top it off, she is an assassin, the least likeliest to be suspected because of her gender.
- I do like this cover, because it definitely caught my eye. I love crossbows, so of course I drawn to the weapon... But it was more than that. The look on her face makes you want to read the book more. You don't know why she looks so torn, until you read the book!
So what are you waiting for?
Happy Reading!
