Vampire Most Wanted by Lynsay Sands

Description:

For Basha Argeneau, anything is better than facing her estranged family. Even hiding out in sweltering southern California. But when a sexy immortal in black shows up determined to bring her back to the clan, she'll do anything to keep far, far away from the past she can't outrun.

Marcus Notte isn't here to play games—especially not with someone as crazy as the infamous blonde. Asked by Lucian Argeneau to bring her back for questioning, Marcus is determined to carry out Lucian's request—no matter how the seductive little mind-reading vamp feels about it.

Basha doesn't mind fighting fire with fire, especially with a hot immortal involved. But if he wants to take her away, he'll have to catch her first .

Vampire Most Wanted by Lynsay Sands

3 out of 5

Ok, so I was a little confused on the name difference between the book description and the actual book.  Divine/Basha are the same person... But it takes you a few chapters to realize it.

Poor Divine/Basha.  To be tortured, tormented, and then on the run for so long.  She didn't deserve that.  But I'm glad in the end she got a happy ending.

Marcus seems to be a great guy.  He is a good, strong, & understanding man.  And that was the extent of his character.

I don't like that Ms. Sands changed some of the "rules" that she had instilled in her world for the immortals.  In Single White Vampire, she wrote that Immortals can't get mortals pregnanat.  But in this book, she said they can.  If you are going to make rules for your world, please follow them.  Or at least come with a great loop hole that will allow the rule to break.

This is the least smutty book of the Argeneau series.  Only a few scenes of fore play... And it wasn't that hot.  It was almost like that Ms. Sands wanted an actual story line instead of her normal repertoire... Shocker!
Overall, this was an okay book.  But I was a bit disappointed.

Dammit Don!  I had always thought that he was a bastard, but I hadn't realized how much of a bastard he was.  OMGoodness, if I could kick his ghost ass, I would... Then again, so would Cat.

Though I do not apporve of Uber-slut behavior, I do laugh a lot at Ian's behavior.  It is just plain funny.  And can I just say that I think it is hilarious that he is a closet trekkie!  Lol!   Made my day!

Can I just say that Denise is the best friend EVER!  I want a best friend who would get beheaded to make sure my family is safe.

Ok, so Bone's death scene was a surprise, but his regeneration wasn't.  But it was a heart -wrenching scene.

I loved getting to meet Katie.  But I want to get to know her more.  She seems to have such a great potential as a character than just a story line.  I would love to get to see her as a heroine of a story.

I think that Madigan got what he deserved.  He was a crazy ass who had no right to create and keep a child captive.

OOOOOOOOH!  How I love it when a book starts with a mystery.  But it is unfortunate that it was so easy to figure out.

Cat has a kid... I swear I was kinda expecting that once it was revealed that they had been experimenting with Cat's blood.  Kinda was just one more puzzle piece that screamed "Here I am!".

Overall, this is a great book.  Yes, there seems to be some very expected things, and Ms. Frost did try to pull out all the stops, but it was still a good book.  Definitely recommend this book to all the Cat & Bones fans.

Happy Reading!

Happy World Book Night!!!!!

So today I gave away my book!  Today I gave out Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (Check it out on goodreads).

I had the pleasure of going to Ms. Paradis' class in my home town (actually, I attended this school from 1995-1998, so I was very excited about that too!).  Her students were great, and they seemed really excited about the chance to read this book!

Kinked by Thea Harrison

Forced to work together, Aryal and Quentin’s mutual antagonism escalates. Each fight draws forth more passion—culminating in an explosively sexual confrontation. Okay, so this was not one of my favorite books out of this series.  But, it was good.  For me, I felt like this book was trying to jump on the BDSM train... Which for me wasn't necessary.

I enjoyed getting to know Aryal better.  In the previous books, she really just seemed to be a pain in the ass harpy (which she is)... But in this book, it proved that she was so much more.  She is wild, free, and wonderfully loyal.  I loved that about her.

Quintin was a character that we only got a glimpse of in previous books, but now we really get to know him.  The fact that he was kind of  an amoral character that has turned over a new leaf.  That does make him appealing.  A bad boy turned good guy is always appealing.

Galya could have potentially been an amazing good guy, but because her grief lead her to murder, it was inevitable that she was the bad guy.  I hated what she did to the Wyr-wolves.  And all to just save her mate.  And because she went about it in the wrong way, she ended up loosing him, and loosing her own life.

I loved the end of this book.  It was perfect.  Enemies became friends and lovers; loyalty was earned; And conflicts were ended.

Overall, this was a good book.  Definitely recommend it if you have read the other books in this series.

Happy Reading!

Lord's Fall by Thea Harrison

Description:

In the latest Novel of the Elder Races, two mates find themselves on different paths, torn between their duty to the Wyr and the passion that binds them…

Before she met Dragos, half-human/half-Wyr Pia Giovanni was alone and on the run. Now she’s mated, pregnant and heading south to repair the Wyrs’ frayed relationship with the Elves. Being separated from Dragos is painful, but for the good of the Wyr demesne they need to figure out how to be partners—in more places than just the bedroom.

In New York to preside over the Sentinel Games, Dragos is worried about his mate, but knows that finding two replacement sentinels is essential to show the rest of the Elder Races just how strong and brutal the Wyr demesne can be. But as the Games heat up, Pia’s negotiations with the Elves take a turn for the dangerous, straining her bond with Dragos and threatening everything they hold dear…

Pia seemed to be really whiny.  That was not very appealing and did not encourage me to like her as a character, which was the exact opposite of her in the first book.  And even by the end, I don't know if she was a character I'd want to read about again.

Now, Eva was a hoot.  She was strong, mouthy, and even occasionally funny.  Which was definitely a nice change of pace from whiny Pia.

I love that Johnny is a cross-dresser and offered to help Pia with her makeup.  That was awesome, especially as a lot of books portray cross-dressers as more effeminate, which Johnny wasn't.

I still loved Liam/Peanut.  I definitely feel like he is going to be too smart for his own good... but I kinda like that about him.

I find it interesting that it was revealed that Dragos was a god as well as King of the Wyr.  And unlike the other gods, he didn't make a god machine.  I liked that about him.

At first, the book moved a bit slow... But once the fire started things really picked up.  I was so glad that Pia and Dragos got back together then.... Made the book so much better.

The loss of the Woods was horrible.  It made me very sad and angry.

The idea of the god machines was definitely a strange and dangerous plot twist... I wonder how much we will see those items coming back in this series.
The sentinel games were an interesting point in the story... I can't wait to see what will happen with Aryal and Quentin....

Overall, this was a good book, though it was not my favorite in this series.  I do recommend this book, just for the fact of catching up on Pia and Dragos.

Happy Reading!

Oracle's Moon by Thea Harrison

Description:

In the latest Novel of the Elder Races, an untested young woman must claim her place as the Oracle—and contend with a powerful Djinn who has decided to become a part of her life...

As a second daughter, Grace Andreas never had to worry about the intrigues of the Elder Races. But when her sister, Petra, and Petra's husband are both killed, Grace inherits the Power and responsibilities of the Oracle of Louisville, as well as her sister's two young children—neither of which she is prepared for.

Yet, she is not alone. Khalil, Demonkind and Djinn prince of House Marid—driven by his genuine caring for the children—has decided to make himself a part of the household both as their guardian and as an exasperating counterpoint to Grace's impudence toward the Elder Races.

But when an attempt is made on Grace's life, she realizes that Khalil is the only one who can protect her—and offer her more than a mortal man...

Oracle's Moon by Thea Harrison
5 out of 5

Grace is officially my favorite character from this series (so far... I know that this might change).  She is a human up against immortal creatures, and yet she doesn't back down.  She is carrying a heavy burden of following tradition, caring for her niece and nephew, and dealing with the loss of her sister, yet she still takes the time to help and care for those who seek her assistance.  I love that about her.

Khalil is so adorable.  Worldly, knowledgeable, yet in some ways he is so innocent of things in the world.  But he learns what it means to be human with the help of Chloe and Max.  It was so precious.

For the first time in this series, we get a real good introduction to the only mortals in the Elder Race, the witches.  You know that the witches run the gamut in types.  Then combine it with the curiosity and mischievous way of the Djinn, there was definitely some trouble awaiting every character involved.

There are some moments where we catch up with several characters from the previous books.  It was nice to be reminded that the stories aren't finished for Dragos/Pia and Rune/Carling.  It was also nice to see some changes in them, change is always nice.

What an adventure between the powers of the oracle, the storms, and the Djinn, and the plots going on, you can't help but be pulled into the action.

Phaedra was a small part of this story, but I want to know more.  I hope that we will see how Phaedra fairs after being healed.

OMGoodness!  The showdown between Grace and Soren was amazing.  It showed Grace's strength and her love for Khalil.  Plus it showed that she was just as bright at bargaining as a Djinn.  I loved it!

Overall, this was a great book!  I highly recommend it!

I loved Rune!  Personally, I like griffins best anyways, but he is the best.  I think as a "between" creature, he gave a good idea of what it means to be so.

Carling was one cool character.  Both strong and fragile.  And like Python said, Carling and Rune couldn't have been a better mated pair.

I loved the epilogue!  To see the changes, the end result was great.  But funniest thing was really Rasputin and his actions.
It was nice to get an introductions to the Oracle, especially since she will be in the next book.

Loved getting to see Pia and Dragos!  They were so cute and fierce.  Pia, the reasonable one as usual, and Dragos, the angry and protective one, were definitely an added perk to this book.

I did get a bit confused with the time traveling parts... especially the last one.  But once I got it, it was understandable what was going on.

I loved getting to see ancient Egypt through the eyes of an ancient that has become modern.  Very interesting perspective.

I loved the story of how Carling got her name.  It couldn't have been a more beautiful story, the meaning behind it was so loving.

Overall, this was a great book.  I highly recommend this book!

Storm's Heart by Thea Harrison

Description:

He's a Wyr warrior, a god of storms. She's the heir to the Dark Fae throne. But desire will bring both to their knees in this all-new Novel of the Elder Races.

During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle "Tricks" Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle's death, there are those who don't want to see her ascend to the throne.

Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr's best weapons. And he's sent to protect Tricks when she's almost assassinated in Chicago.

Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them—a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.

Storm's Heart by Thea Harrison

5 out of 5

Tiago is really a great character.  Once he realized that he didn't know what the heck he was doing with Niniane, he asked for help (which was humorous!).  And once he knew that he wanted her, he did everything he could to get her (which was very sexy!).  Plus, his He-man act was kinda cute.

Niniane was one big ball of emotions.  If she wasn't feeling sad, sorry, or lonely, she was feeling happy, in love, and horny.  Sometimes all at the same time... Which got confusing.

Speaking of confusing - what is up with not being able to keep the same name between the book description and the actual book... Didn't like the confusion it caused....

Naidia - wow!  I didn't trust her when she was introduced.  But I really didn't like her in the end.

There was a lot of intrigue, mystery, and death in this book.  You don't know what characters to trust, who will live and who won't.  Kinda like a normal royal court.

Carling seems to be such a mystery.  Ancient to the point of being as old as many other supernatural beings, she was originally a human.  She holds so many secrets though.  And I think she is more than just a vampire/succubus, I think she might even have visions... Or just be able to really see things.

I liked getting to know Rune and Aryal better.  They definitely are becoming my favorite characters.

Overall, such a good book.  I'm definitely looking forward for the next book in this series.
Happy Reading!

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

Description:

Half-human and half-Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful—and passionate—of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in each other.

Pia knows she must repay Dragos for her trespass, but refuses to become his slave—although she cannot deny wanting him, body and soul.

Review:

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
5 out of 5

I loved the first chapter.  Pia definitely has a snary personality, and I love how it shows in that chapter.

Dragos is an interesting character.  He is a Wyr-dragon trying to understand the changes going on for him.  What is great (I think) is that Dragos is actually learning to be human, how to be in a relationship.  And I loved that it showed how hard it is.

Peanut is so cute!  Stubborn like his father, but has his mother's gifts.  He was definitely a surprise character, but an awesome one at that.  Can't wait to see what he does next.

I think Graydon the griffin is my favorite.  He was the perfect combination of brain, brawn, and sensitivity.  I think it was perfect that he would be the one to befriend Pia.

I love how this book is in an alternate universe where the magical world has been blending with human society since the Golden Age of Elizabeth I.

Omgoodness!  Does this book have some hot moments!  I loved how the attraction was immediate, but there was still resistance from Pia.  But when they finally let go!  Yes!  Fireworks were sparkling everywhere!  *Fanning myself* Makes me want a Dragos my own!

I think this book is a great introduction to this world.  You get to meet dark & light fae, Elves, Goblins, Wyrs of assorted shapes and types, and the halflings in between.  Plus, you get to see Other Land steeped in magic.  Absolutely loved it!

I think it was great getting to discover what Pia was.  I tried again and again to guess what she was, but was still totally surprised at what she was.  A great twist to this novel!

There were some great battles going on in this novel.  Places where you gasp with shock and awe.  I loved it!

Overall, this is an amazing book that will have you gasping with joy, guessing what will happen next, and fanning yourself while you look for a glass of ice water!  I highly recommend this book and I'm definitely going to be reading more of Ms. Harrison's other books!
Happy Reading!
