14 More Days Till It's The End Of The World: Follow Friday (30)

Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

A. What a hard question!  I am tied between two beautiful characters.  I'd be Beauty from Beauty by Robin McKinley or I'd be Diana Bishop from Deborah Harkness' All Souls Triology.  Both characters and I have a strong stubborn streak, and we all are searching for something that is missing.  Beauty is searching for the missing pieces on who the Beast actually is and how to help him.  Diana is searching for who she is as well as a mystical book.  And I'm searching for stuff too (we are not going into what I'm searching for in this post :P).

I think each character looks something different than I, but I think that is the way it should be.  :)

And Don't forget to join in on the END OF THE WORLD FUN here!!!

Q: Activity! Dreamcast your current read.

Here is the problem with this question:  I am reading 3 books at one time right now.  One for at home, one at job #1 and one at job #2 (yes, I work 2 jobs, and have a book for each one... I'm a superhero of course, so if I'm not working I'm reading).  So I'll give you the leads for the books for the job I'm at now.  :)

So for book from Job #1:  Immortals and Melodies by Heather Jensen

Michelle Ryan as Aurora

Reeve Carney as Trey

I don't know about who else......

So what about you?

Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

The perfect place for me would be in a beautiful cabin in the mountains of the middle of nowhere.  With nothing but my books, a microwave, stove and fridge, I'd happily spend my time reading and eating (maybe a few crafts as well, but lets not count on it!)

Where would you go?

Q: This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother's Day. In celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

Well, I love the relationship between Mother and Daughter in the book Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey.  It was a great play between cool mom and unique daughter.

I also love the mother/daughters relationship in The River of Time Series.  The encouragement and love that is so great to see.  I love how they worked together, stood by each other, and adapted.  They were willing to

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

Of course I read more than one!  I've normally got 4-5 books going at one time. :P.  I blame this on the ADD and my attention span that is the same as a 5 year old's.

** Sorry I've been gone so long.  I've been moving, so my primary energies have been to moving, and not FF.  Hopefully, I'll be more consistent starting next week! **

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

Hmmm, I read every where!  I mean, my bed, my car, both jobs, parking lots, and the list goes on and on and on.  The only reason I won't be reading is because I have to actually work, OR I am having to communicate or pay attention to people.  Or I forgot my book or e-reader :P

So where do you read?

Q: What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get your hands on any particular book?

A:  I've only done really 2 crazy things for a book.  I've sat at a book store door at 2 am waiting for them to open the doors so I could get the first copy.  I have had friends from overseas buy the book (Harry Potter!), and then mail it to me.

What have you done to get a book?

Question of the Week: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

This is the PERFECT question for me!  I have an absolutely useless BA in Music, so music is my thing... I have a beautifully long list for y'all, but I'll keep it down to my top 10.

1. Addison Road

2. FM Static

3. Group 1 Crew

4. Adele

5. Kerrie Roberts

6. Icon For Hire

7. Toby Mac

8. Francesca Battistelli

9. Kelly Clarkson

10. Any just about any musical theatre you can think of! (way too many to list honestly)

So what are you listening to in this bright new year?

Question of the Week: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

This is is such a sad question.  I've got about 70 unread books on my physical "shelf" (a metal folding chair.... my book shelf broke), but I have over 125+ unread books on my e-reader.

I guess I better find a very rich husband, quit my jobs, that way all I will do is read! Perfect planning.  Rich husbands can apply below :P

Question of the Week: The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

I really only have one real resolution/goal for my blog.  My goal is to be better about visiting my favorite blogs.  I'm so busy sometimes, that I forget to take the time and just blog hop and visit those blogs I love to read.  I think it would definitely help me find newer, better, and just plain enjoyable books!

Some other goals are:

I want to get better at scheduling my posts, especially the memes and such. It would definitely help me on that.

I'm going to try and keep my thumbdrive with me always.  Sometimes I leave it with my laptop, which makes it hard when I want to write up a review, but don't have internet.

I hope to revamp how I review books and revamp the blog layout, though just the thought of doing it gives me a blog brain freeze! This might be a half year resolution, come the 1 year anniversary kind of revamp.  But we'll just have to wait and see.

I do want to try and do more blog events, giveaways and guest posts (Hint, hint, there is one going on right now!!!!)

What are your resolutions?

Question of the Week: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

I am what I fondly call a book hoarder (my mom calls it a book pack rat).  I buy books, I keep books, I'll occasionally loan books, and I will definitely get rid of the books I don't like.  Better yet, if I borrow a book, and I really like it, I'll go buy the book.  Or if I get one as a galley, and I really like it, I'll go buy the other books.  So that leads to the problem of the number of books I have.  I have so many books that, uhm, my book shelf broke.  So now they are all in books or in stacks around my house and storage unit.  So I guess e-readers are helping me save space :P!

So, what do you do with your books?

Question: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?

Hmmm, book to give for Christmas to everyone?  Well, there are a lot of great books that I've read (and re-read) this year.  I think the one that I will say is one that I keep referring people to:

Why?  This beautiful novel has all the makings of a great story.  A woman, a witch by birth, denies herself who she really is because she feels that it will lead to nothing but bad things.  A vampire, hundreds of years old, falls in love with the witch, something that is forbidden.  With almost death experiences, they both have to work together and fight for what they want to be together. Big pluses are that the author is an actual historian, so everything is well researched, and there are no glaring anomalies to the different time periods she discuss.

So what book would you give everyone for Christmas?

Question: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

I don't have many pet peeves about books, BUT my biggest pet peeve is with series.  Lets face it, I know it is hard sometimes to keep things straight in a series, but when authors start changing how things work mid-way through a series (i.e. the vampires are gorgeous and living, not dead, and could marry anyone they want and then NOT EVEN half way through the series they start talking about life mates and how there is only one for you in the world.  Really? What changed?) or they keep changing things that are minor details, but they are minor enough that they keep coming up (like midway through a novel the main "god" character's name gets changed... What?).  For me those things are like the Egyptians with wrist watches in the Ten Commandments.  It doesn't jive.

So what is your pet peeve?

Question: Letter to Santa: Tell Santa what books you want for Christmas!

Who thinks of these questions?  BECAUSE THIS IS THE BEST QUESTION EVER!!!!  And we will be here a while :P  So I'll divide it into 3 catagories:  What I want that I haven't read, What I want that I've already read but want to own, and what I want that Santa will have to bribe someone to get me before they are published.

What I want that I haven't read yet:

What I want that I've already read but want to own (These were books I borrowed or expired galleys):

What I want that Santa will have to bribe someone to get me before they are published:

There is so many more books on my list, but I thought I wouldn't keep you till Christmas.
