The Characters
Bowen:
Heartbroken
and torn between a past love and his potential mate, I personally was ready for
him to move forward, move to Mariketa.
Stubborn,
protective, creative and intelligent… These are all things that are ingredients
for a sexy man, and Bowen definitely is that.
I hurt for
him with his overwhelming guilt, but it got old, quickly.
Funniest
thing was his blundering attempts to make Mariketa want him. It was like a puppy begging for his new owner
to love and play with him.
Mariketa:
She is
strong willed, yet not set into her immortality yet. She seems to take a lot of risks that show
how brave (or stupid) she is.
She has a
lot of doubt about herself worth, which does add some interesting conflicts.
I love how
she said 99 out of 100 times she blows things up. I think I laughed more at that comment than
anything else.
Overall
This book
generally picks up in the middle of the Hie (check out the book prior). A bit frustrating to have to review stuff,
but it quickly moved forward.
Hexa is a
backdrop villain. She is the enemy of
all witch kind. And she is mentioned
several times, but you are sure what role she will actually play in this story.
I think
this book does a generally good job of bringing the first several books
together. I mean, you get a bit of Emma
and Lachlain, Sebastian and Kaderan, plus funny Nix.
In some
ways, with the mirrors, apples and how the end happens, this story reminds me a
lot of Snow White (without the dwarves).
Overall,
this is a good book. I definitely
recommend it.

I read the first book in this series ages ago and really liked it but never got around to reading the others. I think I might just have to do that soon. Great review!
