Audio Book: Dark needs at Nights Edge by Kresley Cole

Description:

A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK...
Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers -- until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.

A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS...
To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth's brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own.

HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER?
Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?

The Characters

Conrad

Conrad is a red-eyed vampire that has gone insane with the memories of his victims.  So it is no surprise when he thinks Néomi is a hallucination.
Conrad is quite different from the rest of his brothers.  He has been an assassin, a warrior, living a monk-like life of abstinence.

Néomi

Néomi is a ghost from the roaring 20’s, and is quite interesting.  She is a bright woman with a shady past. But she doesn’t let that hold her back.
She knows what she wants, but in some ways she is scared to do something about it.

Overall

I loved the contrast between Conrad and Néomi.  Conrad the virgin and is slightly insane.  While Néomi is experienced and is a ghost… Both have been killed, but still remain.  They haven’t been able to move on from what happened to them that caused their circumstances.

The first couple of chapters were from Conrad’s POV, which was really like looking into a murky pool with a mad man.  It was kind of creepy, and it definitely hard to follow.  But once he started to go through the blood memory withdrawals, he seemed to be easier to follow.

I loved getting to see a bit more of Nix.  I think she is an absolute hoot, and I’d love to see what trouble she is truly up to.

It was nice to see Mariketa and Bowen again.  I think it was wonderful how Mari was able to help Conrad and Néomi.  I also think that there are a lot of great stories to come from her and Nix.  They definitely added bright spots to the seriousness of the book.

Overall, this is a good book.  I recommend this book.

Happy Reading!
