Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross
Description:
In New York City, 1897, life has never been more thrilling - or dangerous.
Sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne and her "straynge band of mysfits" have journeyed from London to America to rescue their friend Jasper, hauled off by bounty hunters. But Jasper is in the clutches of a devious former friend demanding a trade-the dangerous device Jasper stole from him...for the life of the girl Jasper loves.
One false move from Jasper and the strange clockwork collar around Mei's neck tightens. And tightens.
Why?
- First, I read the first book, which was amazing. Why wouldn't I want to read the second book?
- Honestly, I love how steampunk novels seem so much better than reality. A wonderful blend of magic and technology and old-school culture. Yummy!
- Look at this cover. It just draws your attention for various reason: Primarily the titled issue of the clockwork collar. Though, I'll admit that particular collar doesn't look exactly deadly.
