Friday Fun With... Mary Evelyn!

Friday Fun is where readers from ages 5 to 16 let us know what they are reading and why they loved (or hated) what they read.

Welcome to the first Friday Fun!  Today we have Mary Evelyn reviewing :

The Selection by Kiera Cass

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Why did you pick this book out?
The cover and the description . It was just begging me to read it.

What did you like about this book?

I’m a big fan of the Hunger Games, and so when I saw the back of this book, I was intrigued. I know it is not really like the Hunger Games, but a drawing is done, and the contestants are compensated (and their caste rank is moved up to a three, though it is them and not family), the contestants can be sent home (just like in the Hunger Games). There is no telling what can/will happen. Just like the Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins), & The Twilight Saga (Stephanie Meyer), The Selection (by Kiera Cass) is captivating, thrilling, enchanting, and full of surprises. You will not want to put this book down, but don’t get angry when this comes; this book is only the first half of the story. With almost every “I can’t stop reading this book” book, comes a consequence (which is it has a sequel).

What did you not like about this book?
There was nothing I didn’t like about this book.

Would you tell other people to read this book?
Yes. This book is definitely a must read.

Book Rating (circle a #):   1 2 3 4 5

1 being horrible, 5 being fantastic

Happy Reading!
