My Review:

A Demon Does It Better
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lili Carter, a witch and a doctor, returns to a paranormal hospital in search of her missing best friend. Jared is a demon who has been in the mental ward of this hospital for years, and is being tortured while there. Both cannot resist the attraction they feel towards each other, but there is more at stake than his sanity and her friends. Will they be able to solve the mystery of the missing employees as well as save each other from the encroaching darkness?

I loved this novel. It isn’t often that you meet the good guy demon, and you can’t help but cheering Lili and Jared on when they finally get together. The mystery of what is happening to employees of the hospital and who might be involved is a constant thought in the back of Lili’s mind (and even your own). I know that I had the constant idea of who it might be causing the disappearances. I do love how Ms. Wisdom played out the disappearances and the ending of the disappearances (I can’t really give any more clues without spoilers). Ms. Wisdom even does a wonderful job of throwing in historical references that would relate to this modern story as well as explaining some of history’s great mysteries.

I loved Jared’s character. Jared is someone who has had a temporary bout of insanity, but even after he became sane, he is still stuck in the torturous mental ward. But he isn’t just any type of demon, rather he is a shadow demon, and can travel temporarily to other places, which leads to him meeting Lili. He is the tall, dark and handsome demon that you just can’t resist, and thankfully neither can Lili. He is both wounded and the big protector. You want to fix him, but also want him to protect you. That wonderful mix of strong and weak just makes him a character that you want to be with, to read more about.

I will admit that I love Lili just as much as I loved Jared. She is a strong will single witch who feels that she has everything under control in her life, but she is lonely for actual romantic contact. At first, she can’t help but wonder why Jared is the one that she is attracted to, the fact that he is one of the most unavailable men because of his mental health and her being his doctor.

The supporting characters of the book are absolutely wonderful. We have the real queen Cleopatra in cat form (though we never find out in this book why she is stuck in the feline form, her character is equally funny as much as pain in the ass. Personally, I would like to find out why she is in feline form and to see if she might finally become human again.). We also get to meet weredragons, wereleopards, and other creatures that are so fantastical that you can’t help but want to read more of them.

Overall, this is a great book, and I really, really enjoyed this story. I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Wisdom’s hero demons and their romantic attachments. Highly recommend this book!

**Adult scenes involved.  Not appropriate for all readers.**
