Blood Feud

Blood FeudBlood Feud by Alyxandra Harvey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So, if you liked the first book in the Drake Chronicles, you are definitely going to like this one. Isabeau is a Hound, a type of vampire, with a need for revenge. She is originally from France during the French Revolution, but has been buried alive/undead for 200 years... No wonder she wants to get some revenge on the man who did it to her. Logan is the romantic of the 7 Drake boys, and personally my favorite so far. He kind of acts/dresses like he is from the wrong century, which makes him a perfect match for Isabeau, who is just trying to learn everything about this century.

There is some mystery, intrigue, and DEFINITELY some romance. I recommend paying attention while reading, because the POV does change, and sometimes they are flashbacks. If you aren't paying attention, you might go, "Why is Logan in 1788?" when it is actually Isabeau.

Highly recommend!

Hearts At Stake (My Love Lies Bleeding) by Alyxandra Harvey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My Love Lies Bleeding

I will admit, I am a judge of book covers. I loved the Canadian title and cover of the book, and knew I wanted to read it. The Amercan title is a bit corny, though the cover is nice.

So now to the actual book. I you like vampires, secret socities, spunky human girls, a light romantic theme and a little bit of fluffy intrigue, then this is the book for you. I liked how everything was pulled together, though a few things could have been expanded a bit more for a better understanding of the history of the characters.

Though some of the story line might seem to be copied from other books, on a whole I think the book itself was very original.

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)Nightshade by Michelle Rowen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started reading this book, and I must be honest, I thought the main character, Jill, was a bit panicy and whiny. Not because of the experiences she was going through (kidnapping, poisoned, etc), but because I think the book had to have someplace for her to grow, which I didn't realize at the time. I did like how Rowen described her hear. Declan (big bad 1/2 vampire man) is not your normal hero. He is not the world's standard of handsome, in fact there are several references to him being a "monster", which makes you think a little deeper into how looks effect our perspective because you begin to like Declan (Ok, I know I just went deep in a novel that really isn't, but deal with it! :0)). Then she seemed to start to grow a backbone... Of course this took a sex scene, a few deaths, and the beginning of what I feel is a weird love triangle. I wished that there had been a bit more background for Declan's and Matthias' characters. They both seemed to be similar, but missing something that would explain them better. In the end, I definitely recommend this book, and I'm hoping the 2nd book in this series is as good or better than the first.
