Coming out on July 23, 2013

Why?
  1. First off, I love any retelling of Beauty and the Beast.  And this one sounds perfect!  I mean, how can I resist?
  2. I think this sounds too interesting for words, honestly.  It is almost like the wonderful combination of mythology and my favorite fairy tale.  I can’t resist this thing!
  3. I will admit, if it wasn’t the title attracting me, the cover definitely did.  It is gorgeous.  The blood with the rose, and the pale girl holding it.  There is enough to draw your attention in, but not too much to give it all away.

So what are you waiting for?

A BEAUTY IN CHAINS

Seized for the auction block, Chloe Todd is forced to enter a terrifying new world of monsters and lore as a bound slave. When offered up to creatures of the dark, she fears she won’t last the night. Until she’s claimed by him—a tormented immortal with heartbreaking eyes, whose touch sets her blood on fire.

A FULL MOON ON THE RISE

With enemies circling, MacRieve spirits Chloe away to the isolated Highland keep of his youth. On the cusp of the full moon, can he conquer his worst nightmare to save Chloe . . . from himself?

Coming out on July 2, 2013

Why?

  1. Because I read the first several books of the series (I’m trying to catch up…)
  2. When I read the description, it sounded a bit “Beauty and the Beast”, and that is my favorite fairytale…
  3. This sounds just plain delicious, honestly.  I want to know what she turns into, and so much more.
  4. I love this cover.  It looks better than a penny bodice ripper, but it still has that sexy/sultry look that screams romance novel.

So what are you waiting for?

Waiting on Wednesday: VanBuren Manor by Sherry Soule

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Description:

Have you ever heard a voice in the night and convinced yourself it was just your imagination? Has a chill ever gone down your spine, and you thought it was just a draft? Heard footsteps but no one was there?

When Chantal’s family bought the beautiful old mansion, she knew that it was rumored-to-be haunted. According to urban legend, a bride was murdered on her wedding night, and she still roams the halls of this historic mansion.

And when the ghost becomes dangerous, the family calls in experts, but even they aren’t prepared to face the horror that awaits them inside VanBuren Manor…

Coming out on June 29, 2013

Why?

  1. So, this sounds like a haunted mansion, it looks like a haunted mansion, so it must be a haunted mansion.  :P Honestly, I really want to read this because it sounds similar to a local ghost story from my home town.  Which automatically makes it a must read!
  2. I would like to know more about these “experts” that they call in.  I wonder if this will feel like a YA book version of the Ghostbusters.
  3. The cover looks really interesting.  Actually, it looks chill inducing.

So what are you waiting for?

Can she protect Eli, Officer Dan, and find her rogue father? For Emma Jane, it’s all in a day’s work as Heaven’s ultimate bounty hunter.

Coming out on August 2013

Why?

  1. First off, I read the first book, and it was absolutely amazing!
  2. I hate to say it, but I was sick of the sexual tension between Emma and Eli... Please, I'm praying, Emma, just take him.  I know it means he becomes the Fallen, but then you can have a LOT of fun with him :P.  And that is honestly what I'm hoping will happen in this book.
  3. I see a great amount of conflict, and a great amount of tension to come. But I can't wait!
  4. I love the cover.  How at ease, but dangerous she is on the balcony.  You don't know if she is waiting for her lover, or waiting to pounce and kill you.  Perfect!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Description:

Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it.

Complication One: Her grandfather was Mr. Wainwright and the artifacts are lost somewhere in what is now Jane Jameson's book shop.

Complication Two: her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, who keeps turning up half naked at the strangest times, a distraction Nola doesn't need. And teaming up with a real-life Adonis is as dangerous as it sounds, especially when he’s got the face of an angel and the abs of a washboard—can Nola complete her mission before falling completely under his spell?

Coming out on May 28, 2013

Why?

  1. I love Molly Harper's writing!  It always has me rolling on the floor laughing.
  2. Let's be honest, the book sounds pretty interesting... I mean, it sounds like it might be a vampire/witch thing, but what if it is something else?  hmmm... Could be opening up a whole can of supernatural worms here!
  3. Though the cover does look a bit like a penny bodice ripper, it does have something to it... kind of mysterious and knowing at the same time.  I like it!

Why?
  1. I loved the first book!  It was a unique spin of Alice in Wonderland and zombies. I expect nothing less for this book.
  2. The new things that are suggested in this synopsis make me wonder what is going to happen to all the zombie slayers.  Will they win?  Or will the time come that they will fight their final battle?
  3. I loved Cole as a character: a good guy in the guise of a bad boy, he is awesome.  Can’t wait to see what happens between Ali and Cole
  4. What a freaking gorgeous cover!  I love it!

  2. I really want to learn more about Kanin and what he had to do with the Red Lung virus.
  3. I wonder if she will ever get to go back to the boy that she loves….If they will ever get to be together.
  4. This cover is cute, but it doesn’t hold the allure that the first cover did.

Description:

When Camille was six years old, she was discovered alone in the snow by Enrico Vultusino, godfather of the Seven—the powerful Families that rule magic-ridden New Haven. Now Cami is turning sixteen. She’s no longer mute, though she keeps her faded scars hidden under her school uniform, and though she opens up only to her two best friends, Ruby and Ellie, and to Nico, who has become more than a brother to her. But even though Cami is a pampered Vultusino heiress, she knows that she is not really Family. Unlike them, she is a mortal with a past that lies buried in trauma. And it’s not until she meets the mysterious Tor, who reveals scars of his own, that Cami begins to uncover the secrets of her birth…to find out where she comes from and why her past is threatening her now.

New York Times bestselling author Lili St. Crow thrilled legions of fans with her dark paranormal series Strange Angels. Now she has crafted an evocative update of Snow White, set in a vividly imagined world and populated by unforgettable new characters.

Coming out on April 4, 2013

Why?
This sounds like a fun combo of vampire meets Snow White…. I mean, really?  I mean, that automatically makes it sound delicious.
Who is the mysterious Tor?  I love that name because of Robin McKinley, but is he the hero I hope he will be or is there a deeper/darker purpose to him in this book?
Come on, this cover is gorgeous!  How can you resist not picking up this book?

So what are you waiting for?

Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?

This heart-pounding sequel to Grave Mercy serves betrayal, treachery, and danger in equal measure, bringing readers back to fifteenth century Brittany and will keep them on the edge of their seats.

Coming out on April 2, 2013

Why?
  1.  I loved the first book!  It was a delicious historical paranormal YA book... and I expect nothing less from this book.
  2. I thought Sybella was a bit crazy and/or evil, but now I'm wondering.  What has happened to her that has made her this way?
  3. I'm thinking the captive is Beast, and boy do I hope it is... He was really one of my favorite characters in the first book.
  4. I love the cover.  She looks like she is ready to take down anyone who comes near her.

Why?
Because I’m addicted to the rest of the series… I mean, come on, I’ve got a whole group of women who discuss this series, and we are slowly getting more women to join in on reading these books :P.
I want more resolution between Qhuinn and Blay… I mean, I know that they love each other, but will they ever get to be together?  That is the answer all of us are wanting as we read this series.
I’m not sure how I feel about this new competition for the throne.  I have a feeling that this new guy is going to be playing around with some important characters, and I’m not sure how I feel about it, but I’m going to read it.

Why?

  • Wow…. I mean, I think this is one very unique sounding story….
  • I love shapshifters, I love paranormal, and this definitely sounds like it is going to have that element in it.
  • The type of blood prophet sounds very Greek.  So I am hoping for a lot of mythology that I already love.
  • I’d love to know more about this world of “Others”.
  • The cover is beautiful.  I mean, it isn’t extremely unique, but it is definitely eye catching.

Why?
  1. Ok, so this book series is my guilty pleasure.  Very formulmatic, but just like a deep fried snicker bar, it is yummy!
  2. I swear it sounds like the storyline from Bite Me If You Can... But I really don't care.  Sounds like the sobering Anders finally gets a mate sounds like a happy story.
  3. Cover is a bit different from the other books, which is kind of nice.

Why?

  1. Well, I loved the first 2 books... Come on, we have a mystical and magical beings that keep coming around plus a mystery to boot!
  2. I love Ms. Callihan's mix of historical London with the magical element.  She actually does a really good job of blending them together.
  3. I love the cover, though it is a bit generic.  I think the other 2 books had cooler covers, but that is just me being a picky cover whore.
